History

Hand in hand for 60 years!

Since its establishment in 1957 Papier-Mettler has shown constant dynamic growth. Hans Georg Mettler founded the family-owned company as a paper wholesaler and initially supplied his customers with paper products and 15 years later started paper bag manufacture. In 1971 Papier-Mettler extended the packaging range with the manufacture of plastic carrier bags. The product range has continued to expand to this day. The company’s values, being family-orientated, reliable with a down-to-earth approach have always been the key to our success.

Our social responsibility is important to us. Our criteria is to trade using ethical and social principles and only buy ethical products and services where possible. These have been outlined in our Code of Conduct. The legislation governs to respect fundamental human rights, employment rights and the environment.

As a packaging manufacturer we are fully aware of our responsibilities. The topic of sustainability is no passing fad for Papier-Mettler, but a conviction actively practised for decades. As an international, independent and owner-run company in Morbach, Germany we are only successful when our environmental and economic impact and social performance are in harmony.
